Ed Rehkopf
Director of Communication & Information



Responsibilities
As Director of Communication and Information, Ed is responsible for company communications, development of standards, policies, procedures and training material. In addition, he works on special projects such as the Online Information Database (a web-based resource for company managers), benchmarking, leadership development and preparing business plans.

Background
Ed has managed two historic university-owned hotels - The Hotel Thayer at West Point, New York, and The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He has worked in diverse hospitality organizations, including a 4-Star, 4-Diamond resort in the California desert, as Director of Operations for a regional hotel chain and as Chief Plans Officer for Marine Morale, Welfare and Recreation, a $67 million dollar government agency in Okinawa, Japan. Twice he has opened upscale golf and country clubs - Governors Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and The Point Lake and Golf Club in Mooresville, North Carolina. He is the author of Leadership on the Line, a Guide for Hospitality Supervisors, has authored numerous management and leadership articles for the hotel and club industries and is currently working on a book on benchmarking in the hospitality industry.

Education
Ed graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master of Professional Studies degree in Hotel Administration from Cornell University.

Personal
Ed and his wife, Claire, live in an old farmhouse in Mount Ulla, North Carolina. Ed has four grown daughters, Kate, Meghan, Carrie and Foley.
